Fused Quartz Fiber Bundle
Fused Quartz Fiber Bundle
The fused quartz fiber bundle is produced by a hot-melt process: a bundle of optical fibers is stripped of its coating, arranged in a defined geometry and then heated until the fibers fuse into one solid bundle. Compared with conventional gluing, the melting process increases the duty cycle. In high power laser transmission a fiber bundle has to withstand a high energy density, which places heavy demands on its materials and process. The hot-melt quartz bundle has a high melting point and good chemical stability, and withstands the high temperature and high energy density of high power laser transmission. At the same time, the refractive index of the quartz fiber bundle is low, which reduces the loss and scattering of the optical signal and ensures the quality and stability of the signal transmission.
