SH-T301 High-Precision Polyimide (PI) Thermal Ablation System

SH-T301 High-Precision Polyimide (PI) Thermal Ablation System

The SH-T301 is a benchtop system built for the difficult task of removing polyimide (PI) coatings from specialty optical fibers. PI coatings are thermally stable and chemically resistant, so mechanical or chemical stripping often damages the glass or exposes operators to hazardous chemicals. The SH-T301 uses precision-controlled electric arc discharge to create a high-temperature plasma field. This non-contact thermal process vaporizes the coating in seconds and leaves the bare glass clean, preserving the cladding surface, tensile strength and reliability required by medical, aerospace and sensing applications.

Key Features

  • Contact-free thermal stripping: a stable electric arc removes the coating with zero physical contact, eliminating the scratches, cracks and latent flaws of mechanical stripping tools.
  • Preserves fiber strength: keeping the glass surface intact maintains the highest post-strip tensile strength, vital for high-reliability fiber sensing and medical device assembly.
  • Handles tough polyimide (PI): optimized for stubborn PI coatings, as well as high-temperature acrylate and carbon coatings that resist standard thermal strippers.
  • Precision digital control: program arc power, duration and motor movement from the digital interface for repeatable results across fiber diameters and coating thicknesses.
  • High-magnification optics: integrated microscope and camera give a magnified view of the stripping zone on the LCD screen for precise alignment and real-time process monitoring.
  • Clean operation: eliminates messy, hazardous chemicals such as hot sulfuric acid or acetone; the ablation process is clean and efficient.
  • Compact benchtop design: robust, small-footprint unit suited to both R&D laboratories and production environments.
